Composed Works
Sometimes Knowing is Not Enough (2018)
for chamber ensemble (sop., b.cl., perc., str.)
Excerpt: III: Abeyance, IV: Dream
This work takes the words of climate scientists who, as part of a work by artist Joe Duggan entitled Is this how you feel?, were asked how they felt about climate change, rather than what they thought.
First performance at the Melbourne Recital Centre, as part of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra’s 2018 ‘Metropolis’ Festival.
Performed by the Ad Lib Collective, with guest artists: the Penny Quartet, soprano Alexandra Smither (Canada), Luke Carbon and Giovanni Vinci.
A Simple Song for Complex Times (2020)
for solo viola and wordless voice
A work which evolved out of some mindless strumming when it felt like words were difficult to find.
Written for collaborator and violist Molly Collier-O’Boyle. First performed online as part of a project by violists at the Australian National Academy of Music ‘Bach x Bratsche’, to be heard in between the first and second cello suites, arranged for viola, by J.S. Bach.

Four AM Dorian (2020)
for solo piano
Commissioned by Sara Saubern to mark the sixteenth birthdays of her twin grandchildren, Clare and Reuben.
This piece uses their names as the primary melodic material, and evokes the music that captured my attention at the age of sixteen. At the same time, attempting to evoke a sense of quiet excitement and anticipation for the future.
Performed by pianist Liam Wooding.
Four Pieces for Ondes Martenot, Percussion and Strings (2015)
Excerpt: Movement II
Commissioned by percussionist and collaborator Thea Rossen, and performed by members of the Australian National Academy of Music, with ondist Jacob Abela. Conducted by Patrick Burns.
This piece, alongside another premiere by Jacob Abela at the same concert, is the first Australian work written for the Ondes Martenot.
